In addition to setting up the gallery of art at this years TFF,
The Spirit Lives On under the direction of Becky Dillin coordinated the
Art, Film and Costume contests. The mission of TSLO is to promote creative artists
and they fulfilled this goal by providing the framework and facilitating a beautiful
showcase for the talent of our attendees. Thank you to Becky and her entire crew!

The costume guidlines required contestants to turn in photos and a description of their costume to be entered into the contest by Saturday.

On Sunday morning I personally poured over the applications to pick the finalists.

My job was made easier by the fact that we had the same number of contestants who entered as we needed finalists.

Which meant that everyone made it into the contest!

Espen dressed up as Elrond greeted and escorted the contestants.

The Costume Parade was a chance for the finalists to show their work on stage to the audience.

After the parade, Kiran Shah and I were faced with the awesome task of judging the costume entrees. Thankfully we were able to see them up close and personal. Each contestant told us details about their lovely frocks and armour pieces.

Some even went into detail about how they were made! It is always a great joy for me to see the work people put into their costumes. And it's easy to see in their eyes the passion that they have for their art.

It's nearly impossible to compare costumes against each other. So the judging was structured to give a score of 1-5 in five categories. Quality, Creativy, Originality, Believability and Over All Look

Kiran's scores and mine were then added together and the costume with the highest scores won first second and third. Then each of us selected from the remaining costumes which ones we wanted to give an honorable mention. I selected the orc costume for both the creativity of found objects she went through - just like an orc would, and because of the originality of such a pretty girl deciding on such a costume!
