Taelon in a Fishbowl
Every wonder what those glowing Taelons do on the bridge?
I do.........
~There he is again. I should be used to his presence on the bridge by now. That sleek dark figure of a human. Though I've never heard his voice or the words that he speaks, I know more about him than Zo'or does. Not even the other humans see. The look of distaste in his eyes at Zo'or's commands. The constant defensive stance he takes, yet with such power. He will betray us, this I know! If only they would let me speak.~
~And there SHE is again. The aesthetic woman who accompanies him. The woman whom he seems to need and yet barely trusts. I can see she disdains him, but he keeps forcing his authority on her as if to win her loyalty. I wonder what they say behind Zo'or's back. If only they would let me hear.~
~And Da'an, he's the only one, Taelon or Human who sees the others as I do. He's the only one observant enough to know who to trust and who not to trust. I would follow his leadership and support him fully. If only they would set me free.~
SSSSSHHHHHWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSPPPPPP!!!! The bubble opens.
"Zo'or!" I say desperately, "Is my time up? Have I paid my penitence sufficiently?"
"Quiet your thoughts! They are disturbing me through the commonality," he says in his evil tone. "By order of the synod for crimes against the Taelons, all of your energy is to be used for controlling ship functions. You are not to evade that function in any way shape or form. If you do not wish to cooperate with your lenient sentence, you are free to embrace the void."
SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSPPPPP! The bubble closes.
~If only they would let me think.~
