Dress ~ Stencil ~ Pin

Template for the Stencil

Print out the template and place on dress to decide the proper size for your stencil. Cut the stencil. I used a hot stencil cutter because it's so much easier than an exacto knife. Be sure to follow directions, it can get dangerous. I cut out only half of the design so that I would not lose any shapes.
Be sure to practice on the real fabric in order to get the actual texture and colors.! Gather a variety of supplies so you can experiment.. This is one side of the stencil using white first so that the purple would show up better on the green. To get the other side of the symbol, I flipped it over. And here is my attempt to get the 3d effect of a cut out shape.
The white seemed too bright so here is a little less white paint before I used the purple. Holding it up I decided to go with the second version. I measured very carefully to make sure the symbols went on the dress appropriately.
Here are some symbols drying. A closer look. The final look. (The dress photographs different colors in different light.)
